Fundraising team shortlisted for five awards

We are delighted to share that with the help of blind veteran Billy, our fundraising team has been shortlisted for five categories at the Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards 2024, recognising and celebrating the work we do to ensure that everyone who supports our work, understands the impact of a gift in their Will.

The award ceremony in April will bring together legacy fundraising professionals from across the charity sector to recognise and celebrate the significance and contribution of gifts in Wills for charities and their beneficiaries.

Blind veteran Billy helped us with our nominations this year by sharing how important gifts in Wills have been in his own journey to overcome sight loss, and why he has pledged a gift in his own Will to support future blind veterans.

This is the second year we have been shortlisted, this time in five separate categories:

• Legacy Project on a Shoestring
• Internal Collaboration Champions
• Legacy Fundraising Professional of the Year
• Excellence in Dealing with a Contested Will
• Digital Innovation in Legacy Giving

The award entries were reviewed and assessed by a judging panel that includes some of the biggest names from across the charitable legacies community. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from a pool of brilliant applications, is a mark of real achievement for our team.

Blind Veterans UK relies on gifts in Wills to support five in ten of our blind veterans. These gifts are crucial in helping support veterans like Billy long into the future.
