Payroll Giving
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving, also known as Give As You Earn, is a way of giving money to charity without paying tax on it. Your donation is taken straight from your wages or pension each month before tax, which means that more money goes to charity.
The amount of tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay:
- On the basic tax rate, if you donate £8 the charity will receive £10
- On the higher tax rate, if you donate £6 the charity will receive £10
- On the additional tax rate, if you donate £5.50 the charity will receive £10
With Payroll Giving, your donation will go even further, at no extra cost to you.

How is Payroll Giving set up?
You must be a PAYE employee or receive an income from a pension to set up Payroll Giving.
You can set up Payroll Giving by completing the online form using the button below.
You will be asked:
- How often you would like to donate
- Your employer's details, and your national insurance and employee number
- Which charity or charities you would like to support and how much you would like to donate (you will not be asked to give any bank details)
- How you would like to be contacted
- Your personal details like your address and phone number
Your donation may take up to six weeks to take effect depending on when in the pay cycle you completed your form.
