Military Sight Loss Champions: Volunteering

Volunteering for Blind Veterans UK can be incredibly fulfilling. Not only will you get to meet veterans with extraordinary stories to tell, but you'll also become part of a nationwide movement to support their lives.

Our volunteers are vital to the work we do and, as a champion, you'll have the chance to contribute your leadership experience, your caring approach and, of course, your sense of humour.

Champion Liaison

Are you a mess member or involved with another service charity or military association? We're looking for volunteers to share information about upcoming events on behalf of your organisation to promote new opportunities to blind veterans who may not be able to access this information themselves.

All you need to do is email the information to us and we'll make sure it gets to our veterans. As simple as this sounds, this role is crucial in supporting the lives of blind veterans and you also have the option of learning more about what we do and promoting our work within your organisation if you'd like to. Optional online training provided.

Unit Champion

Our veterans love returning to messes - it brings back a strong sense of belonging, and for many, it's been a long time coming. That's why we seek out messes for our special occasions, such as formal dinners.

These events offer a simple yet meaningful way for an entire unit to champion our cause. All we ask for is a simple point of contact; we'll take care the costs and provide everything needed to make the event a success. At your request, we can also promote the event on our website and across our social media channels to support your public relations efforts.
